Hong Kong Trail covers 8 stages with a total length of 50km. In its entirety it offers views of almost all of Hong Kong Island and for the avid hiker it can be completed in about 10 hours, if you are fast. Distance posts are located every 500 meters along the trail starting with H000 and ending at H100. Stage 2 covers distance posts H015 to H025. Sign posts are marked with a logo of a man and woman hiking together.
Hong Kong Trail Stage 2 starts at Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Road. Stage 2 can be reached either by first completing Stage 1 or by walking down Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Road from The Peak (about 1.5km).
Stage 2 is composed of 100% concrete paths which make for a disappointing natural trail. Surrounding greenery is welcoming and views toward the end of this trail in Aberdeen are what makes this trail worth hiking.
Wildlife is quite sparse along this section of Hong Kong Trail, apart from the odd eagle or two soaring high above.
Hong Kong Trail Stage 2 starts at the end of Hong Kong Trail Stage 1. Alternatively you may first catch a bus or the Peak Tram to The Peak and then walk some 1.5km down Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Road to the start of this section.
Stage 2 ends in Aberdeen, at the beginning of Hong Kong Trail Stage 3. You may exit this stage early by taking a trail down to the right past distance post L024 toward Tin Wan Estate. From here you may catch a local bus to Aberdeen bus terminus and then a connecting bus from there.
Pok Fu Lam, Aberdeen
Start at the end of Hong Kong Trail Stage 1.
Continue up the hill to the left.
Once you pass distance post H015, look out for a left hand turn toward Peel Rise. There is a large map by the turnoff.
At the top of the stairs turn left onto the wide concrete path.
After distance post H016, continue straight ahead and then turn left at the bottom of the hill.
Continue to follow the trail to the left after distance post H017.
The wide concrete path ends near H021 and continues down a set of stairs.
Follow the stairs down the hill, looking out for glimpses of Aberdeen.
At distance post H022, turn left at the fork in the path.
Take in the beautiful scenery of Aberdeen and continue down the side of the mountain. When you reach the catch water at the bottom of the stairs, turn left.
After distance post H024, you may exit the trail early and head down the stairs to your right towards Tin Wan Estate. If you wish to continue onto Hong Kong Trail Stage 3, then go straight ahead alongside the catch water.
After distance post H025, take a sharp left to continue onto Hong Kong Trail Stage 3.
